Dr. Dewey will be presenting via Zoom and Judge Roberts will be moderating in person.
This presentation will focus on the impact of many addictive drugs, including but not limited to, caffeine, nicotine (including vaping), alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, and opiates, on the adolescent brain and its function. In addition, data will be presented that demonstrates the effects of process addictions including internet gaming and cell phones on the reward system in the human brain. Finally, the role that the environment plays in relapse to drug seeking behavior will be discussed.
